School District of Philadelphia — Andrew J. Morrison Elementary School, Philadelphia, PA

Morrison Elementary School’s cafeteria substructure and finishes were damaged due to water infiltration from aging stormwater pipes. Our studio designed a structural and finish renovation of the school’s existing cafeteria. The original water damaged wood floor and sleepers and subfloor were removed. The storm water infrastructure was repaired. Design priorities were structural and storm water system improvements and a palate of finish materials that would improve the overall ambiance of the below grade elementary school cafeteria. The designed palate integrated a light, neutral palate with a playful polychromatic color mixing pattern on the floor.
